Alcohol-Removed
Chardonnay

This alcohol-removed wine from New Zealand offers a sophisticated and refreshing alternative to traditional Chardonnay – without compromising on taste or quality.

It was important to our team to craft a dealcoholized wine of premium quality, while staying as true-to-style as possible. For us, this means a drier style than other NA Chardonnay wines – you won’t find excessive sweetness here!

INTRODUCING GIESEN 0% CHARDONNAY: FRESH, VIBRANT, COMPLEX

To craft Giesen 0% Chardonnay, our team carefully selected classic, cool-climate grapes from Hawke’s Bay and Waipara wine regions. The Hawke’s Bay fruit brings ripe peach, stonefruit and mealy notes to the wine, whilst Waipara adds citrus fruit and crisp acidity

How does it taste?

This no-alcohol Chardonnay offers a bouquet of citrus and stonefruit, with French oak influence.

The fresh and zesty palate reveals creamy vanilla, leading to a long, silky smooth finish with lingering buttery, toasty notes. Perfect for enjoying at home, out with friends and family, or anytime you’d prefer a glass of wine without the after-effects of alcohol.

0% compromise.

Our latest release is the result of an expert team of passionate, award-winning winemakers who specialise in no- and low-alcohol creations. Our team takes pride in crafting 0% wines that retain the flavour and wine-like characteristics of their full-strength counterparts.

They have been diligently experimenting to create a premium, great-tasting, low-calorie, dealcoholized New Zealand Chardonnay wine. As the first winery in New Zealand to own spinning cone technology, our team has the unique ability to experiment and ensure that every no-alcohol product we produce is of the highest quality

But is it wine?!

We want our non-alcoholic options to give you everything you’d expect from a premium New Zealand wine. So we go through the entire winemaking process, before we gently remove the alcohol. Here's how we do it...

Giesen 0% Chardonnay undergoes the same process as the rest of our Giesen 0% range, starting with producing premium full-strength wine, then using our own spinning cone technology, we gently remove the alcohol.

For the base wine of our Giesen 0% Chardonnay, a portion undergoes malolactic fermentation to achieve a creamy mouthfeel and butterscotch flavours. This portion is then aged on French oak, imparting a toasty complexity, richness, and enhanced mouthfeel. The remaining portion of the base blend is aged in stainless steel, preserving purity, freshness, intense fruit flavours, and the classic New Zealand juicy acidity.

Chardonnay, as a wine style, lends itself well to dealcoholization, because of the complex flavours from the fruit and oak. Malolactic fermentation also brings a creamy mid-palate that is often missing in no-alcohol wines.

DID YOU KNOW?

The guidelines for what counts as "wine" relate to how the product is made, rather than whether there is any alcohol content! So because we ferment our grapes first, yes - Giesen 0% is still classed as a wine. That's how we get such a varietally expressive end product!

Step One

We make a delicious, full-strength New Zealand wine with the classic flavors loved around the world.

Step Two

We use innovative spinning cone technology to gently distill the wine into layers:

AROMA
ALCOHOL

BODY

Step Three

We carefully collect that delicate aroma and add it back into the body of the wine (sans alcohol!)

Step Four

We add just a touch of premium grape juice to round out the final blend. There you have it! Delish.

Enjoy over a platter with friends, a picnic with family, or even at your local bar on date night (if they're clever enough to stock it!)

About Giesen Wines

On the edge of the earth is a nation of unprecedented natural beauty that's first to see the sun: New Zealand.

Poised between mighty mountains and crashing seas, at the heart of a young glacial valley rests the Giesen family winery. It's the freshness and purity of this pristine place that helps the Giesen brothers create some of the world's best cool climate wines.

When work is done, the three Giesen brothers love sharing a meal with family and friends, enjoying a wine and celebrating another day. We invite you to do the same.
